Construction Underway for new Cambridge Interchange

Local News

Construction along Highway 101 between the Berwick and Coldbrook Exits in Cambridge is well underway.

The project is expected to take a few years which will eventually alleviate heavy traffic volumes along our busy Highway 1.

With this new interchange, there will be two roundabouts – one on each side of the overpass and roadway leading towards Highway 1.

The interchange will also lead towards the Annapolis Valley First Nation providing residents with a second route into and out of the community. There is currently only one entrance and exit to the reserve.

Roadway will also extend to Brooklyn Street.

There will be an additional roundabout along Highway 1 next to the Waterville Fire Station connecting Highway 1, then proceeding down a new road towards the Waterville Michelin Plant.

Each day hundreds of tractor trailers travel to the Michelin plant in Waterville, including many employees who rely on the plant for income.

With the construction of this new interchange, the amount of traffic travelling through rural areas will reduce and allow for much more efficient transportation.

The project design can be seen attached below – sourced from the province of Nova Scotia.
