House In Greenwich Suffers Damage Following Fire

Yesterday evening, at approximately 630PM, Greenwich Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a house fire in Greenwich. 

Initial reports had indicated there was a fire on the exterior of a residential home near the chimney and roof. 

Mutual aid was dispatched from Wolfville, New Minas, Port Williams, Kentville & Hantsport. 

In a statement from Greenwich Fire, firefighters were able to contain the fire quickly. “Arriving crews found fire breaking through a wall on the second story of the home as well as fire in the attic space. Crews were able to quickly contain the fire to a single room and the attic space above it.” 

Firefighters worked in challenging weather conditions with temperatures well below freezing. 

There were no reported injuries as a result of the fire. Canning firefighters also provided standby at the Greenwich Fire Station during the incident. Kings District RCMP assisted with shutting down Birch Drive & Nova Scotia Power also assisted on scene. 

In a statement from Greenwich Fire, the origin of the fire appears to have been around the home’s chimney.
