House suffers damage after Fire in Berwick

On Tuesday morning, shortly around 9AM, Berwick Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a residential home on fire in Berwick.

Upon arrival, there was a working fire on the exterior of a home.

After speaking with Captain Jeremy Vandenhof with the Berwick Fire Department, the first arriving individuals had safely help extricate the homeowner and a pet from the residence before fire apparatus arrived.

Mutual aid was also provided from Waterville, Aylesford, Kentville & Kingston Fire Departments.

Firefighters made quick work, attacking the fire and chasing some extension throughout the home.

New Minas Fire provided stand-in at the Berwick Fire Station while Greenwich provided coverage at the Waterville station.

Berwick Electric Commission, Berwick Public Works, EHS Paramedics and Kings District RCMP also attended the scene.

The fire is being treated as accidental in nature and the Nova Scotia Fire Marshals Office was contacted. The Canadian Red Cross was also contacted.

Main Street between Commercial Street and Foster Street was shut down while crews worked on scene.

Thankfully, there were no reported injuries as a result of the incident.
