Increasing Operational Costs for Community Hub In Kingston

Community

The Credit Union Centre in Kingston has been the heart of the community for many years, creating memories, early mornings and shaping the lives of many children each day.

Unfortunately, due to significant increases in operational costs, the nonprofit community arena is facing some challenges.

With Nova Scotia Power’s recent service rate hikes, this has led to a 15% increase for commercial buildings. This has impacted the costs of running electricity and the ice cooling plant that keeps the arena open throughout the year.

To help offset costs, the Credit Union Centre is organizing an online auction starting February 1st and ending on March 5th.

The goal is to raise $25,000 over the next fiscal year to help with keeping the area up and running.

In a statement issued by the Credit Union Centre:

“We would greatly appreciate any donations of items-large or small-that could be auctioned off. As a token of our gratitude, each business or individual contributor will be prominently recognized as a donor on the auction platform, giving your organization exposure to a wide local audience.”

These generous donations will significantly support the Credit Union Centre and its ability to provide a safe and welcoming space for sports, recreation, and community events, ensuring its sustainability for years to come.

If you are interested in supporting this vital community effort, please contact the Credit Union Centre at 902-844-0791 or wayne@greenwoodautosales.ca to arrange your donation.

Alternatively, they would be happy to pick up your donated item at your convenience.
