On Saturday, January 18th, Kentville Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a house fire in North Kentville.
Mutual aid protocols were activated, bringing in assistance from New Minas, Port Williams and Waterville Fire Departments.
Initial reports indicated that there was a fire in the basement of the residence.
Crews made quick work going interior and getting to the source of the fire. The fire was reported to be contained to the basement area.
After speaking with Kentville Deputy Fire Chief, Ian Fairclough, smoke damage was reported to be throughout the whole home.
One resident who was home at the time of the fire was able to escape but suffered burns and smoke inhalation.
The resident was transported to hospital by EHS Paramedics and was later released. One firefighter also suffered minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The Canadian Red Cross was also engaged to provide short-term assistance. Kings District RCMP were also on scene.
