Kentville Firefighters were busy yesterday with six calls for service

Local News

Kentville Firefighters were extremely busy yesterday responding to six calls for service, three of which involved fire in their district.

Sometime around 730AM, Kentville Firefighters responded to a structure fire in Steam Mill with mutual aid from New Minas, Waterville & Port Williams.

Prior to the fire department’s arrival, the homeowner had the bulk of the fire extinguished using snow, water, and a fire extinguisher.

Initial reports indicated that there was an electric vehicle charging port on fire, but this was not the case.

After speaking with Deputy Chief Ian Fairclough with the Kentville Fire Department, the fire had started on the outside of the home. The fire is currently under investigation and is being classified as undetermined at this time.

Firefighters worked to check for extension and ensure the fire was extinguished for sometime.

One patient was assessed by EHS Paramedics for smoke inhalation and Nova Scotia Power also attended the scene.
