Settled along 14573 Highway 1 in Wilmot, the newly opened business offers a variety of options to customers.
Chef and owner, Dailis, originally from Latvia in Europe, has had many years of kitchen experience.
While moving around to different countries, Dal received most of his cooking experience while working in fine dining restaurants and four-star hotels in Ireland.
Dal continued his career in Canada, where he got a job offer in Newfoundland. While working, he met his wife, Leah, who was originally from the Annapolis Valley.
Eventually, Dal and family moved back to Nova Scotia and ended up working in different restaurants.
After getting a feel of what people locally like and making many connections, Dal chose to open his own unique kitchen with a special touch.
“I just wanted a fresh start and to be able to put my name on it, so I could prove something for myself.” stated Dal.
With an extensive menu available and a plethora of options, many people have raved over the food. Must tries are the chicken shawarma and chicken shawarma poutine!
With approximately 22 years of cooking experience, Dal has certainly earned his place in our backyard, providing a unique opportunity for many to enjoy his cooking.
The C-Can shaped kitchen currently does not have any space for anyone to enjoy a meal. In the summer months, picnic tables and outside sitting are available!
Dals Counter provides you with the opportunity to sit in your vehicle while you wait. While technology has progressed, you’re given a beeper and when your meal is ready it beeps. This lets you know your order is ready, to ensure the customers can stay warm and comfortable during the winter months.
You can also call ahead and order as well, and a text message will alert you when your order is ready!
These meals are made with a very appealing look, certainly not like your ordinary fast food take-out. The wait is certainly worth it!
Dals Counter Take Away also provides catering year round for those who may be interested, you can reach out!
Additional upgrades to allow customers to be more comfortable from wind, rain and snow, including a deck are anticipated in the near future. There are also plans to place an event tent in the back portion of the lot, for weddings and parties.
