Nova Scotia Firefighters help Santa with Letters.

Community

I had the privilege to be a part of something special this year, along with various fire departments and firefighters across Nova Scotia.

Back on November 21st, the Enfield Volunteer Fire Department with assistance from Santa, were concerned letters wouldn’t get back to the North Pole in time!

Following their post on Facebook, Fire Departments across the province stepped up, as they always do, spreading Christmas cheer to many children in numerous communities.

Special mailboxes were placed outside of fire stations, giving parents and children the opportunity to drop off their Christmas letters to ensure they got sent to the North Pole in the nick of time.

It was touching to hear of the dedication, time, and commitment that many, including spouses, friends, and firefighters put in just to be able to put smiles on the faces of many children.

To receive feedback from many families that  they were taken back and thankful for the letters being hand delivered, candy canes, lights on fire trucks and the overall sense of Christmas spirit, was truly touching.

Many fire departments received letters in other fire districts. With teamwork, firefighters made sure all letters were delivered, no matter which fire truck showed up or where.

I think it’s safe to say for all firefighters that this was beyond rewarding and defines what volunteering for your community is all about.
