On Boxing Day, at approximately 1123PM Hantsport Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a shed on fire in Avonport.
Automatic mutual aid from Windsor, Wolfville, and Brooklyn Fire Departments were also dispatched.
“Our dispatch reported that there was an outbuilding on the property that was fully engulfed with fire and that it was reported by the caller that an adult female was seriously injured.” stated Hantsport Deputy Chief Paul Maynard.
Upon arrival, firefighters were faced with a 15 x 15 structure fully engulfed with exposures of a vehicle, house and second outbuilding.
The fire was under control in roughly 10 minutes and was contained to the one building involved.
One adult female was transported to hospital by EHS Paramedics in critical condition. There were no other reported injuries.
The fire is under investigation by RCMP and the Office of the Fire Marshal, but it is not deemed suspicious.
